ALIEN GLYPHICS

Reinwald poured the oil on thick and let it harden, then cut it like leather, lifting black shapes off the canvas and remounting them on white ground, some panels flipping to their negative twin. He wasn't writing a language, but the shapes started looking like one, foreign and glyph-like, born from a material he'd never pushed this far before. There's no translation. It demanded to be shown before anyone, including him, understood what it said.
